The Importance of BOD Incubators in Research and Development
BOD incubator or bio-oxygen demand incubator is a low temperature incubator which creates a scientifically accurate controlled environment for samples/specimen/cultures. This type of incubator is used in many different fields, including medical research, to maintain optimal conditions for delicate samples. The temperature, humidity, and oxygen levels can all be controlled in a BOD incubator, which makes it an essential tool for many types of scientific research. 

When it comes to research and development, especially in biotech and pharmaceutical companies, BOD incubators are used to maintain a specific level of temperature to either facilitate stability or propagate cultures. BOD incubators are used to study various biological processes like bacterial culture, germination etc. Along with temperature moderation, the BOD incubator, also known as biochemical oxygen demand incubator, or biological oxygen demand incubator also controls oxygen levels within the chamber. So, when the microbes within the chamber start consuming oxygen, the consumed oxygen is noted and/or replenished. Oxygen within the chamber also acts as an electron receptor. Therefore, when microbes consume organic material it also provides them with the energy to procreate and survive. The oxygen level demand within the chamber is estimated through an estimation method called chemical oxygen demand or the COD method. ANother method called the oxidation method proceeds without the involvement of microbes. 

Multiple industries also use BOD incubators in their waste processing plants to define the performance of the waste treatment system. In the farming industry, it is used to understand the germination process of anaerobic bacteria. 

BOD incubator is different and more efficient than a regular incubator. Mainly, the difference occurs due to the capability of maintaining temperature. Whilst a normal incubator only has the heating option, a BOD incubator has both cooling and heating functions. Normal incubator functions at 37°C but a BOD incubator functions at lower temperatures of 10°C and 21°C also. 

BOD incubator are one of the most crucial pieces of equipment in research and development. They facilitate observation under ideal conditions and easier study of biological processes in microorganisms.
